Sawyers Snider, 89 A service for Frances E. Sawyers Snider, 89, Durant, who died Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Dalton-Holmes Chapel in Durant. The Reverend Herb Bridgewater will officiate. Frances was born October 15, 1915 in Kenefic, Oklahoma to Demp and Hester (Wilhelm) Vaughan. She was a graduate of Kenefic High School. She married Dayle B. Sawyers in Durant, Oklahoma on February 9, 1934. Dayle died March 1, 1968 and eleven years later, June 11, 1979, Frances married Chester Snider, who died November 25, 1982. She was a homemaker, housewife, cosmetologist, beauty shop operator, substitute teacher, secretary and bookkeeper. She was of the Baptist faith and lived most of her life in the southern Oklahoma communities of Kenefic, Daisy, Silo, Caddo, Cobb, Kingston and Durant. Frances loved the out-of-doors, especially Lake Texoma, fishing and camping and she was particularly fond of flowers, yardwork and sewing. There was never a household task too tough to handle- always strong willed and determined. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; four brothers, Olen, Robert, Houston and Norman Vaughan. She is survived by two sons, Jack Sawyers and wife Elaine of Durant, Bill Sawyers and wife Vicky of Las Vegas, Nevada; one daughter, Ruth Ann Walker and husband Arnold of Durant; one sister, Dorothy Hall of Del City, Oklahoma; four granddaughters, Debbie Sears of Durant, Cindy Wortham of Whitewright, Texas, Tiffany Black of Springdale, Arkansas, Steffany Rambo of Durant; two grandsons, Kenton Sawyers of Coppell, Texas, Vincent Sawyers of Anna, Texas; one step-grandson, Eric Wingfield of Las Vegas, Nevada; one step-granddaughter, Angie Frye of Arlington, Texas; five great-granddaughters, Madison and Darian Sawyers of Coppell, Texas, Millicent Sawyers of Anna, Texas, Sydney Black of Springdale, Arkansas, Brittney Wortham of Whitewright, Texas; five great-grandsons, Cage Sawyers of Anna, Texas, Jaden Sawyers of Coppell, Texas, Hunter Rambo and Brent Sears of Durant and Blane Wortham of Whitewright, Texas; one step-great granddaughter, Darian Frye of Arlington; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Family hour will be from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Durant, with Kenton Sawyers, Vincent Sawyers, Russell Black, Sammy Rambo, Beryl Sears, Jimmy Wortham, Brent Sears and Hunter Rambo serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to the American Heart or Diabetes Association.
