Wednesday, August 20, 2003 Durant Daily Democrat Merle Taylor, 92 A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Highland Cemetery for Merle Taylor, 92, Durant, who died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at Four Seasons Nursing Home. ======== Thursday, August 21, 2003 Durant Daily Democrat Merle Julia Taylor, 92 A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Highland Cemetery for Merle Julia Taylor, 92, Durant, who died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at Four Seasons Nursing Home. The Rev. Herb Bridgewater will officiate. She was born Monday, Sept. 12, 1910, in Hot Springs, Ark., to William J. Muse and Maude E Lay, and came to Durant in 1929. She married Dale Bertell Taylor, Feb. 19, 1932, in Tishomingo. She played basketball and was active in sororities while earning a B.A. in Social Studies at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She and her husband owned Taylor’s Radiator Service for 28 years. She was a case worker for the Department of Human Services. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, knitting and sewing. She was of the Methodist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on July 28, 1995; son Mack Taylor, and brothers Terle and Ernie Muse. She is survived by her brother Jack Muse, Hot Springs; daughter-in-law Beth Taylor, Texas City, Texas; grandson Dustin Mack Taylor and wife April, Alice, Texas; granddaughter Menay R Taylor, Texas City; and great- grandsons Mack Monte and Ian James Taylor, both of Alice. Pallbearers will be Donald Henson, Brandon Henson, Erick Henson, Jay Raborn and Brent Rustin.
