All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Llano Cemetery--Amarillo OK From Amarillo Globe-Times Monday, September 12, 1983: Steve Grant Troxell, son of Josiah E. and Caldonia Box Troxell, was born November 15, 1904, Deport, Lamar County, Texas. He passed from this life to his heavenly home on September 11, 1983 at the age of 78 years 10 months. Mr. Troxell was left an orphan at the age of 12 years, and was then reared by his older brothers and sisters. He attended school at Caddo, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of 11 brothers and sisters. He was married to Nona Leona Price, daughter of T. M "Pete" and Ruth Matthews Price, at Caddo, Oklahoma on October 2nd, 1924 and to this union was born five children, Mrs. Willa Mae Adkins of Amarillo, Texas; Mrs. Tommye Jo Craven of Beaumont, Texas; Mrs. Glenna Macrander of Amarillo, Texas; two sons- Morris Grant Troxell of Amarillo, and Donald Eugene Troxell. Mr. Troxell was a farmer for a number of years at Caddo, Oklahoma, and was a retired Civil Service Worker for 22 years. The family moved to Amarillo in May 1949. Mr. Troxell had joined the Church of the Nazarene at Caddo, Oklahoma when he was 18 years old. As a small child he had always attended the church with his mother, who was a Charter Member of the Church of the Nazarene when organized as a denomination at Pilot Point, Texas, 75 years ago. Grant was present at that organization which is being celebrated this year across the denomination. He was a member of the San Jacinto Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Troxell was preceded in death by one son - Donald Eugene, and all of his brothers and sisters. He leaves to morn his passing his wife, Leona, and three daughters, and one son; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grand children, a number of cousins, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and neighbors. Funeral arrangements are by Boxwell Funeral Home and burial is in Llano Cemetery, Amarillo, Texas.
