(Ope) Wade A service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Durant for Opal W. (Ope) Wade who passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at Oakridge Manor in Durant. Rev. James Robertson will officiate. He was born Feb. 17, 1917, to George W. and Girtrude Horton Wade in Briggsville, Ark. On Dec. 23, 1942, he married Ruth Virginia Roberts, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. He was of the Baptist faith. Opal Wade was a farmer and worked for 20 years for Shellingburg Construction. He was a member of the Elks Lodge for 50 years. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his compassion in their adversities and their happiness. His greatest personal joy was being with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, of the home; three sons, Homer and wife Mary, Mead, Harold and wife Staci, Mead, and Allen, Haltom City, Texas; and seven grandchildren, Cindy Buchanan, Clayton, Lisa Hargis, Ardmore, Brent Wade, McKinny, Texas, Valinda Marquis, Whitehouse, Texas, David Wade, Mead, Crystal Doughty, Mead, and Jeff Wade, Fort Worth, Texas. Opal had six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Morton, Leon Sherrer, Alford Wheeler, Herb Clark, R.D. Parker and Melvin Garner. Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Samuel, Arthur Riding, Ernerst Hooser, Bill Garner and Sterling Campbell. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at their residence today from 6-7 p.m. Memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church, North Second Avenue in Durant.
