CADDO COUNTY, OKLAHOMA - Britton School Historical Marker Contributed by: pigoletto@worldnet.att.net * cochonnet@aol.com Megan Zurawicz, National Coordinator USGenWeb BRITTON SCHOOL Information taken from Oklahoma Historical Marker on Hiway 1-52 between Cogar, Ok. & Binger, Ok. in Caddo County. Britton school was established in 1911 and was known as Science Hill. The school house was located 1/2 mile east of this memorial. Later the name was changed to Britton school in honor of the pioneer family. The church located at the same site served as a grade school. The first school enumeration done in June 1912 listed eighteen families in the district and was designated as District number 108 Gracemont school district. Britton, one of the oldest schools in this area, when it was closed in 1950 had twenty four families, all were farmers, except one oil field worker, one mechanic and one day laborer. J.J.
