Man, wife face murder charge Murder charges have been filed against a Sand Springs couple in the Saturday night stabbing of an Anadarko man. Charged were Frederick Broom, 27, and his wife, Kitty, 20, arrested Sunday in Tulsa on a Caddo County warrant. Preliminary hearing for the pair has been set for 1:30 pm, August 23 and bond was set at $25,000 each. They are accused of the stabbing death of Herschel Goodwin, 45, of 614 East Oklahoma. Sheriff T.L. Stuart said the death was discovered about 10:55 pm Saturday after the Anadarko Fire Department received a call 'from a person believed to be a female telling them to take an ambulance to 614 East Oklahoma because there was an emergency and they would have to break the door down to get in.' Stuart said the fire department notified the police department and police officers accompanied the ambulance crew to the scene. The police officers determined there was somebody in the house and broke the lock on the door, Stuart said. They found Goodwin's body lying on the floor. After the ambulance crew determined the man was dead, they notified Dr. Perry Corbin, the county medical examiner. Stuart said questioning of witnesses in the area established that the Brooms were the last people seen at the Goodwin house. 'We sent a teletype to Sand Springs to check the residence of Broom's father and at 3 am Tulsa confirmed arrest of the two people as material witnesses,' Stuart said. The murder charge was filed late Monday by Assistant District Attorney Tony Burns. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Caddo County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/caddo/caddo.html
