Coming to Caddo county at the time of the opening in 1901 Mr. Moore was among the first to file for claims, since he drew the farm on which they now live. For thirty-three years they have shared the joys and sorrows of this community. No family in the community is better known than the Moores. They have seen the community grow from a wilderness to a fine farming section, spanned with good roads, and educational advantages grow from one room schools to institutions of higher learning. Through it all they have played the part of neighbor and friend throughout the years. The weather has never been too bad, the roads too muddy, or any other excuse to keep them from administering to those in need. They have devoted their lives to making the community a better place in which to live. Perhaps this is one reason they are so widely known and beloved by the citizens generally. Crop failures, sickness and other adversities have been fully compensated by the fact they reared a family of eight children - seven sons and one daughter - who have gone on to become prominent and respected citizens. All of the children live near their parents and it is a degree of pride that father and mother Moore can recall the difficulties and sacrifices made to rear and educate this fine bunch of children. Gathered around the large dining table Wednesday evening with the parents were all the children, who are named in order of birth: Sample Robert , the only child living outside of the county, lives in Shawnee. Members of the other children's families were present, they are John G, commissioner of the Third district, living in Cache township; Bert of Apache; Guy near the home; Mrs. Anna Good, Apache; Levi B, Fazel and Floyd all living in Cache township. On February 7, 1884, this couple was married in Sedgwick county, Kansas, coming to their present home in 1901. Mr. Moore and his seven sons are all active members of the Carnegie Lodge No. 287, A.F.& A.M. and the Master Mason degree was conferred on all of them by the Hon. H.C. Jones, now internal revenue collector of the state, Mrs. Moore and her daughter, Mrs., Anna Good, are both members of the Eastern Star, Carnegie chapter, and have been active in this organization. On February 29 Mr. Moore will be 70 years of age and on September 8 Mrs. Moore will be 69 years old. The many friends of this happy couple join with the immediate family in extending best wishes for many more years of good health and happiness, that they may continue to serve their community in a way that will bring them much contentment and bring them more friends.
