All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution 16 Aug 2002 Don ‘Squint’ Tahsequah Apekaum CARNEGIE — Funeral for Don "Squint" Tahsequah Apekaum, 53, Carnegie, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Creek United Methodist Church, Carnegie, with the Rev. Milton Otis and Junior Toehay officiating. Mr. Apekaum died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, in Carnegie. Burial will be at Mount Scott Tribal Cemetery, Meers, under direction of Pitcher- Hackney Funeral Home, Carnegie. He was born March 7, 1949, in Lawton to Frances Tahsequah. He lived in the Carnegie area most of his life, and attended Carnegie public schools. He later enrolled in Job Corps and received cooking and firefighting training. He was a member of the Comanche Tribe, but grew up with the Kiowas. He worked at the Kiowa Complex in security until his health forced him to retire. Survivors include two brothers: Tony Isaacs, Taos, N.M.; and Eddie Tahsequah, Wapato, Wash.; a sister, Leona Johnson, Wichita Falls, Texas; a nephew, Junior Toehay, Carnegie; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his mother; the parents who raised him, David and Emma Apekaum; and a sister.
