Submitted by Sandy Miller ************************************************************************ The Anadarko Tributne July 19, 1928 NATHANIEL NELSON AVERY Nathaniel Nelson Avery was born at Atlanta, Georgia July 13, 1861 and died at Hutchinson, Kansas July 10, 1928, lacking three days of being 67 years of age. He was married to Miss Artesia Overton in Fulton county, Georgia in May, 1882, and to this union were born seven sons and two daughters. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Claude DeWitt of the Fort Cobb M.E. church and interment was made in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Friday afternoon, July 13, attended by a large concourse of friends and neighbors. The family lived in Oklahoma for 35 years, Ardmore being the old home, however Fort Cobb and vicinity has been their home for 15 years. On account of the failing health of Mr. Avery, they moved to Hutchinson this spring. John Avery, a son, has lived in this community for a number of years. Mr. Avery was a quiet man, a lover of flowers and little children. He leaves a brave-hearted wife, his children, a number of grandchildren and many friends to mourn for him. He united with the M.E. church when 24 years of age, and continued with the church until his death. The family expresses deep appreciation and thanks for every act of kindness shown them, and for the flowers. One card bore the names of 21 families, and to this grief stricken family is extended the heartfelt sympathy of the entire neighborhood.
