Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Bartley-Silva Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, in Plainview, with David Crenshaw, associate pastor of Red Bud Baptist Church in Lubbock, officiating. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Amarillo. Mr. Askins was born June 30, 1952, in Anadarko, Okla. He was a truck driver for Excel Meat Packers for many years. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He was a Baptist. Survivors include a son, Jerry Askins and wife, Danielle, of Plainview; a daughter, Angela Miller and husband, Brandon, of Plainview; his father, E.E. "Windy" Askins Sr. of New Deal; his stepmother, Evelyn Ann Askins of New Deal; his step-grandparents, Walter and Twity Watts of Abernathy; two brothers, Calvin Askins of Lubbock and Robert Askins of Amarillo; three sisters, Teresa Wilkerson of Amarillo, Carolyn McDonald of Dallas and Marilyn Askins of Lubbock; and three grandchildren, Christopher and Keely Askins, both of Plainview, and Justice Miller of New Castle, Wyo. The family suggests memorials be to University Medical Center Foundation in care of Surgical I.C.U.
