All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Green Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery--Bakersfield CA Alvey, Gladys (Long) We will celebrate the life of our grandmother at Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, 3700 River Blvd., Friday, March 10, at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Larry Wood will officiate. Gladys was born in Carnegie, Oklahoma and moved West during the Dust Bowl. She and her family settled in Shafter, where she raised a family and worked for Safeway, later moving to Oildale and continued working for Safeway on China Grade Loop until retirement in 1970. Gladys knew no strangers and was a familiar face to many people because of her job as a grocery checker and her unique sense of humor. She was pre-deceased by her husbands, William Alvey and Orville Long; son, Donald Long and brother, Norval Winter. Surviving are grandson, Steve Long and wife Sandy; grandchildren Susan Sloan and three great-grandchildren, Steven Long and Aimee and Eric Sloan; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Vernon Searcy; sister-in-law, Pat Winter; daughter-in-law, Joanne Smithee- Long; brother-in-law, Buster Long and wife, Verna and a host of nieces and nephews. We will all miss her for her great sense of humor and the love she had for her family.
