Officiating at the service was the Rev. Aaron Hacker of Oklahoma City, Ok., former pastor of the church. Burial was in Anadarko's Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of the Steverson Funeral Home of Anadarko. Pallbearers were her grandsons. Mrs. Allen was born 19-Oct-1922 in McAlester, Pittsburg county, Ok. to Levi W. and Ethel Ruth Holly Mitchell. She married Melvin Ray 'Skeet' Allen 02-Feb-1940 in Sapulpa, Creek county, Ok. She grew up in Okmulgee, Okmulgee county, Ok. and resided there for several years after her marriage. The couple moved to Anadarko in 1955 from Lawton, Comanche county, Ok. when he began working for the Anadarko Lumber Company. She was a faithful member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Anadarko where she served as Women's Missionary Union president and was a Sunday School teacher. She worked many years with the Vacation Bible School. Preceding her in death were her parents; one grandson, Ryan Scott Brown and a great-grandson, Tyler Allen Cyrus. Survivors included her husband of the home; one son, Melvin Allen, Jr. of Anadarko; four daughters, Onita Cyrus of Cement, Ok., Vicki Allen of Oklahoma City, Ok., LaDonna Brown of Duncan, Ok., and Carol Smith of Rogers, Ark.; 11 grandchildren, Allen Cyrus, Brenda Sampson, Lynda Stewart, Terry Cyrus, Leslie and Brian Allen, Sharolyn Ross, Terecia Webb, Gina Scott and Evan and Jonna Brown; nine great grandchildren, Jesse Cyrus, Heather and Jacob Sampson, James and Josh Stewart, Tommy Cyrus, Allyn and Tori Ross and Keaton Webb; two sisters, Theta Massey of Ada, Ok., and Alta Fisher of Lake Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Thomas 'Tinker' Mitchell of Okmulgee, Ok., and L.W. Mitchell of Ft. Smith, Ark.; several nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and many loving, caring friends.
