The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Surnames: Aunquoe, Klinekole, Lester, Azocar, Gilbert, Del Rio, Hess, Taptto, Allen Luke Allen Aunquoe May 17, 1999 CARNEGIE--Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, 22-May-1999 at the Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home Chapel in Carnegie, Caddo Co., Ok. for Luke Allen Aunquoe, 50, of Fort Worth, Texas who died 17-May- 1999 in Fort Worth. Officiating was the Rev. Larin Kerr. Burial was in the family cemetery in Mountain View, Kiowa county, Ok. under the direction of Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home. Pallbearers were James B. Aunquoe, Gregg W. Aunquoe, Michael E. Aunquoe, Jack C. Lester, Ceasar Del Rio and Kris Taptto. Honorary pallbearers were Ceasar Del Rio, Jr. and Tim Allen. Aunquoe was born 16-Nov-1948 in rural Apache, Caddo Co., Ok. to Percy and Elsie (Klinekole) Aunquoe. He resided most of his life in Fort Worth where he attended public schools. After graduating from high school he attended Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas. He graduated from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas after leaving Haskell with a degree in business administration. He was of the Methodist faith and was baptized while a member of the St. Johns Methodist Church of Fort Worth. He was also an enrolled member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam conflict and was awarded an honorable discharge. During his tour in Vietnam he was wounded while facing hostile action on a river patrol. He was a member of the Texas Indian Club and performed as a dancer. In his membership he was called upon to perform the hoop dance, the eagle dance and the fancy war dance. He was employed as a security guard for the Kiowa Tribe and the John Peter Smith Hospital and worked for several firms as a bookkeeper. He was employed with the Tandy Corporation headquartered in Fort Worth as a security guard at the time of his death. He loved to play music and was an avid reader of literary materials throughout his youth. He participated in football, basketball, baseball, and ran track while in high school. He excelled in baseball and tennis and had aspirations to become a professional tennis player which he was unable to pursue due to his wounds received while on military duty. Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Louis Ray Aunquoe and three sisters, Charlene Faye (Aunquoe) Lester, Marcia Ann (Aunquoe) Azocar and Minnie Marie (Aunquoe) Gilbert. Survivors include two daughters, Angela and Alisa Aunquoe, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; one brother, Robert W. Aunquoe of Mountain View, Ok.; two sisters, Ida Del Rio of Fort Worth, Tex., and Norma Hess of La Puente, Calif., and many friends and relatives.
