All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== MARY ELIZABETH "LIBBY" BICE NORMAN, Okla. - Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Bice, age 92, of Norman passed away Monday, February 24, 2003 at Brookhaven Extensive Care Center in Norman. Libby was born in Cisco, Texas on May 22, 1910. She was the oldest of four children born to Robert Lee Lawrence and Bess (Bettis) Lawrence. Libby grew up in Anadarko, Okla. where she attended school and graduated. In 1930, she married Ed Jackson of Oklahoma City, Okla.. She later attended colleges including the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Okla., O.B.U. in Shawnee, Okla., Central State in Edmond, Okla., and received her Master's Degree in Education from the University of Oklahoma. Libby was an educator all of her life. She taught school at Putnam City, Anadarko, Tulsa, overseas in Germany, Japan and Jamaica. She later married William "Bill" Bice in Tulsa in 1961 and together they lived in Canada for a few years where she continued to teach. From Canada they moved to Tyler, Texas and then to both the Tulsa and the Grand Lake area. Bill passed away in 1970 and Libby continued to live in Tulsa and at Grand Lake for the next 26 years and was a member of the Fellowship of Believers Church in Langley, Okla. In 1996 she moved to the Rivermont Retirement Center in Norman to be close to her son, Larry. Libby was also a member of the A.A.R.P. and Kappa Kappa Iota. Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling on cruises and overseas, especially with her children and grandchildren. She liked to stay active by reading every day, singing and visiting with friends and family. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother or "Grandy," great grandmother, aunt and friend. She was preceded in death by: parents, Robert Lee & Bess Lawrence; husband, William "Bill" Bice; a son, Larry Jackson; a grandson, Terrance Jackson; a great grandson, Zachery Jackson; two brothers, Robert Lee Lawrence, Jr. & J. Bettis Lawrence; and one sister, Roberta Reece Lawrence. She is survived by: one son, Dr. William B. Jackson and wife, Donna, of Tacoma, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Ann Bice of Norman; a daughter- in-law, Sandra Jackson of Garden Valley, Texas; nine grandchildren, Pat, Steve, Suzanne, Greg, Julie, Chris, Scott, Deanne and Jason; and eight great grandchildren and many other loving relatives and friends. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Noble Assembly of God Church in Noble, Okla. with Rev. Jack Nester and Rev. Steve Lance officiating. Interment will be at Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary bearers will be her many friends. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
