Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Chickasha under the direction of the Sevier Funeral Home of Chickasha. Bates was born 24-May-1950 in Hobart, Kiowa county, Ok. to Herbert and Cornelia (Martin) Bates. He married 06-Dec-1969 in Anadarko, caddo co., Ok., Annette Scaffetta. He was vice-president and senior trust officer of Midland Trust Company of MidFirst Bank in Chickasha. He was president and CEO of Oklahoma National Bank and Trust Company in Chickasha from 1981 until 1998. He received his accounting degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Cleveland Co., Ok. He was a member of the College Heights Baptist Church where he served as deacon and men's Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of the Baptist Foundation Board. He was a member of the Rotary Club, American and Oklahoma Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Central Oklahoma Investment Club of Chickasha. Survivors include his wife, two sons, his parents, and one brother.
