Robert "Bob" Belew, 82, Apache, were held Tuesday, January 11, 2005 in the Becker Funeral Home Chapel of Fletcher (formerly Robbins). Mr. Belew died Saturday in a Fort Sill hospital. Burial was in the Elgin Memorial Lawn Cemetery under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home of Fletcher (formerly Robbins Funeral Home). He was born October 21, 1922 in Salem, Missouri. He married Charlene Hahn on May 31, 1941 in Esther, Missouri. He worked on the family farm and as a miner until he joined the U.S. Army. He served with Company B 513th Parachute Regiment 17th Airborne Division from 1944-1946 in Europe. When he returned home, he continued his work as a miner. He also held jobs at a brewery, a munitions plant and in various sales positions, but eventually found his perfect job in the trucking business. He was a long-time resident of Van Vleck, Texas before moving to rural Apache, where he continued his trucking business. He was a life member of the VFW. Survivors include his wife of the home, three daughters and sons-in-law: Patricia Ridley and her husband David, Bobetta Golsong and her husband Bob, both of rural Apache, Cheryl Settoon and her husband Rick, Ponchatoula, Louisiana; Two sons and daughter-in-law: Christian Thomas Belew, rural Apache, Ronald Belew and his wife Connie, Bourbon, MO; Three grandchildren: Heather Bowman, Elisha and Holly Settoon. Two great- granddaughters, Brittany Erlich and Jordyn Bowman. He is also survived by three brothers and two sisters. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ross.
