The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ====================================================================== Surnames: MARTIN, BANKS, WHALEY, FOWLER, WHITE, BAILEY, LINDSAY The Fort Cobb News Dorothy Bernice BANKS was born June 5, 1917 at Fort Cobb to Marion and Arnettie Bell (LINDSAY) BANKS and died January 20, 1999 in Anadarko. She grew up in the Fort Cobb area, attended a rural school and spent most of her life in the Fort Cobb community. She married Cecil MARTIN Oct. 12, 1935 at Anadarko. The Martins were farmers during their early married life and their eight children were raised on the farm. In 1964 they moved in to the town of Fort Cobb and Cecil was employed at Sequoyah Mills, now Hollytex. She was a member of the Fort Cobb First Baptist Church, in the Homemakers Sunday School class and served on the hospitality committee. She was preceded in death by both parents, nine brothers and sisters, a great-grandaughter and a daughter in law. Survivors include her husband, Cecil, of the home; three sons and their wives, five daughters and their husbands, 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister. Burial was in the Fort Cobb Cemetery under the direction of the Fort Cobb Funeral Home.
