Briscoe August 16, 1987 Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday 18-Aug-1987 at the Anadarko Presbyterian Church for Rachel E. Briscoe, 91, of Anadarko who died 16-Aug-1987 at the Anadarko Municipal Hospital. Officiating at the service was the Rev. Glenwood Buzbee, pastor. Burial was in Anadarko's Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of the Steverson Funeral Home of Anadarko. Mrs. Briscoe was born 25-Sep-1895 near Verden, Caddo county, Oklahoma Territory. She married Wendell F. Briscoe 15-Dec-1915 in Anadarko with the Rev. J.J. Methvin officiating. She attended Anadarko High School and was the last surviving member of the school's 1914 graduating class. She later attended the former Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Grady county, Ok. She was a past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also an active member of Amaranth and a lifetime helper in the Order of the Rainbow Girls' Assembly. She was a member of the Philomathic Club and the Anadarko Presbyterian Church where she had formerly served many years as church organist. Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, Francis Briscoe of Ardmore, Ok.; one daughter, Winona Evans of Oklahoma City, Ok.; three sisters, Pearl Kolar of Binger, Ok., Rena Topetchy of Gracemont, Ok., and Thelma Mann of Oklahoma City, Ok.; one brother, Ernest Downing of Oklahoma City, Ok.; two grandsons; two great grandchildren; one niece, and two nephews.
