Bird 16-Aug-1984 Funeral services were held 20-Aug-1984 at 10:30 a.m. in the First Baptist Church at Fort Cobb for Wily S. Bird who died 16-Aug-1984 at Chickasha. Rev. Jim White of Oklahoma City, a former pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Fort Cobb Cemetery under the direction of the Fort Cobb Funeral Home. Bird was born 28-Dec-1906 at Davis, Ok. He married 12-Feb-1942 Florence Cox at Hobart, Kiowa county, Ok. He moved to Chickasha at the age of two and graduated from the Chickasha High School. He attended Pharmacy School in Denver, Colo. before moving back to Chickasha where he worked as a pharmacist. He worked at Fort Cobb as a pharmacist from 1940 until 1948 when he was appointed postmaster at Fort Cobb. He later became a rural mail carrier, a position he held until his retirement. He served in the United States Army during World War II, serving overseas. He was a member of the Oddfellows in Chickasha and the First Christian Church of Chickasha. He had been a Boy Scout leader in Fort Cobb. Preceding him in death were his parents, three brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife, one son, one sister and two grandchildren.
