Bill was a family man and loved every minute of it. He unselfishly gave his time to support any activity one of his family members did. After his graduation from Westville, OK High School in 1944, he attended Oklahoma A & M on a football scholarship. He was drafted into the military in 1945 and served his country in Korea. He returned to A & M upon his honorable discharge in 1947 and completed his college education, graduating in 1951. While at A & M, he met Claudine Sue Johnson of Thomas, OK and married her on May 28, 1950. Upon graduation he taught school and coached at Barnsdall, OK and then later at Carnegie, OK. Coaching was Bill's real love, but left it for a career in the insurance business in 1956 for what he felt would better support his growing family. Bill earned the respect of clients, insurance company personnel and fellow agents as an independent insurance agent. Bill retired from his agency, Bradford - Irwin Insurance Agency, in 1995. He was a member of Grace Methodist Church and was active for many years in youth sports. He was preceded in death by both parents, Laura and Riley Bradford and sister Eva Joan Kern. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Claudine Sue Bradford, his children, Jennifer Jan Bradford, Kent and his wife Martha Bradford, Kyle and his wife Tammi Bradford, his treasured grandsons: Zachary Dean Bradford, Samuel Jacob Bradford and Riley James Bradford, sisters, Ama Lee Brockman of Jerome, Idaho and Carol Jean Spradlin of Castro Valley, California, along with many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to offer sincere gratitude to Dr. Brian Geister and his staff as well as all the angels on 7 West at Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 2, 2002 at 2:00 P.M. at the North Colonial Chapel of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary with interment to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. VONDEL L. SMITH & SON MORTUARY 13125 N.
