All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution 11 Dec 2003 Alfred Berna CARNEGIE — Funeral for Alfred Berna, 83, Carnegie, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Chapel, Carnegie, with Chaplain Johnson officiating. Mr. Berna died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at his home. Burial will be at Carnegie Cemetery. He was born Sept. 20, 1920, in Fort Cobb to Henry Wittie and Beuna Vesta Gary Berna. He grew up in Oklahoma and attended Alfalfa Schools. He married Janetta Avetta Luttrell on June 30, 1941, in Chickasha. He was drafted into the Army Air Force on Aug. 18, 1942, at Fort Sill. He served on the front lines in World War II and was wounded in Frankfurt, Germany, March 26, 1945. He was awarded the European Theatre Operations Ribbon and the Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Ronnie Berna and Kenneth and Martha Berna; a daughter, Phyllis Ann Rawlins; two sisters; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Caddo County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/caddo/caddo.html
