All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution 27 Jun 2005 Jimmy Dale Brown CEMENT -- Graveside service for Jimmy Dale Brown, 69, Cement, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cement Cemetery, Cement, with the Rev. Bill Long officiating. Mr. Brown died Thursday, June 23, 2005, in an Oklahoma City hospital. Burial with military honors will be under direction of Hodge Funeral Home of Fletcher and Elgin. He was born Jan. 17, 1936, in Maysville, Ark., to Jimmy Brown and Edna Mae Brown Garber. As a 17-year-old Boy Scout, he was credited with saving the lives of two young girls at the scene of an automobile accident. He grew up in Anderson, Mo., and graduated from Anderson High School in 1954 and the University of Arkansas in 1958. At the university he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and played the saxophone in the band. He served in the Army and Army Reserve from 1953 to 1968. He started his career in the meat and grocery industry in Oklahoma City, where he owned several grocery stores and was employed by Flemming Food Industries. He later owned and operated a farm east of Cement. Survivors include his wife Marilyn, Las Vegas, Nev., and a son, Steve Brown, Atlanta, Ga., and many friends in the Cement area including the Mack Simmons family and the Wynn family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rosanna Drzal.
