Mrs. Bryant died Monday 11-Aug-1997 at Shanoan Springs Retirement Center in Chickasha, Grady county, Ok. Officiating at the service was the Rev. Bill Nunley and Mack Schoonover of the Cornerstone Church in Chickasha. Services were under the direction of the Steverson Funeral Home of Anadarko. Bryant was born 09-Dec-1904 south of Fort Cobb to McClelland and Rosalie (Walker) Schoonover. When she was four years old her family moved to a farm four miles south of Anadarko. She attended Antondale School and graduated from Anadarko High School. She was a piano student of Mrs. Popejoy for several years. She attended Anadarko Business College and received her bachelor's degree in music from the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Ok., in 1926. She received a public school teacher's certificate in music and taught at Blackwell Junior High for a period of time before moving to Memphis, Tn., where she received her diploma in accounting and became a Certified Public Accountant. While in Memphis she also received a diploma from the Tennessee Hairdresser and Cosmetologists Association as a master hairdresser and cosmetologist. Mrs. Bryant moved to Altus in 1958 where she operated her own business as a public accountant and bookkeeper for numerous small businesses. For 17 years she lived in the Towers Apartments, a retirement center, and worked in the office until she was 87 years old. When her health deteriorated 18 months ago, she moved to Shanoan Springs. She had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus where she served as secretary of the adult Sunday school department. She was also active in the senior adult and homebound Sunday school ministries. She had been a member of the hospital auxiliary and worked with the Senior Citizen Center. She was chosen Woman of the Year by the American Business Women's Association in Altus. Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Harold V. Schoonover and Leland Schoonover; and an infant sister. Survivors include two nephews, Mack Schoonover of Anadarko and Charles Schoonover of El Reno, Ok.; one niece, Betty Barnes of Kingsville, Tx.; and one sister-in-law, Bea Schoonover of Anadarko.
