All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Lawton Constitution 24 May 2004 Billy Fred 'Bill' Calvert COCOA, Fla. -- Word has been received of the death of former Lawton resident Bill Calvert, 75, Cocoa, Fla.. Funeral was held Saturday at Brevard Memorial Park, Sharpes, Fla. Mr. Calvert died Wednesday, May 19, 2004, in a Rockledge, Fla., hospice center. He was born May 17, 1929, in Anadarko to Vonnie B "Stone" Calvert and Frederick Marion Calvert. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Turner DD834. After being honorably discharged, he worked as an electronic techincian for the U.S. Government at Fort Sill. He formed a Country Western band and played in the Miami area for several years in the early 1960's. He married Joan Yeates May 29, 1968, in Miami. In 1976 they moved to Cape Cameral, Fla., where he opened an electronic shop and was a volunteer fire chief. He moved to Cocoa, Fla. after retiring. Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Barbara Ulrich, Melbourne, Fla.; a granddaughter, Laura Ulrich, Melbourne, Fla.; a sister, Emma Lou Calvert Delk, Lawton; a nephew, Jerry L. Ogle, Lawton; three nieces: Pamela S. Morrison, Lawton; Teresa J. Kirkendall, Lima, Ohio; and Lisa K. Harris, Red Oak, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.
