Clayton died Tuesday, 07-Nov-2000 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Ok. Officiating at the service was the Rev. Ricky L. Huggins. Burial was in the Carnegie Cemetery under the direction of the Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home of Carnegie. Clayton was born 25-Jul-1951 in Anadarko, Ok. to Gene and Sally (Rodrick) Sawyer. She married Dr. John C. Clayton 11-Jun-1978 in Oklahoma City, Ok. She grew up in Carnegie and was a graduate of Carnegie High School and Oklahoma City University. She was a piano teacher and church organist. She was a member of the Madison United Methodist Church in Clarksville, Tenn. She was also a member of numerous local, state and national music organizations, including the National Music Teachers Association. Preceding her in death was her grandfather, Jess Rodrick. Survivors include her husband of the home; one son, David Clayton, and one daughter, Diane Clayton, both of the University of Oklahoma in Norman; her parents of Carnegie, Ok.; one brother, Mike Sawyer of Carnegie; one sister, Dee Anne Heath of Edmond, Ok.; her maternal grandmother, Bess Corbin of Carnegie; her father-in-law and mother- in-law, Joe and Georgia Clayton of Bartlesville, Ok., and four nephews, Matt and Joshua Sawyer and Jayson and Zachary Heath. --------------------------------------------------------------------
