Clayton Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 1 at 2:30 p.m. for Elliot L. Clayton. Rev. Charles Hanna and Kenneth Carpenter will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Alfalfa cemetery under the direction of the Pitcvher-McClure Funeral Home. Clayton was born Apr. 7, 1897 in Garnette, Kansas and married Bessie in Alfalfa on Apr. 9, 1922. He was a former school teacher, farmer and a veteran of World War I. Clayton was preceeded in death by his parents, one brother, Charles and a sister, Harriet. Survivors include his wife, Bessie, of the home; two sons, Hanford, Forest Grove, Oregon; and Irwin, Blanchard; a daughter, Gwendola Cowell, Wichita, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. --------------------------------------------------------------------
