All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Jack M Clark Bakersfield Californian Jack M Clark Dec. 11, 1929 Dec. 23, 2001 Services: Thurs., Dec. 27, 2 p.m. Jack Maurice Clark, age 72, passed away December 23, 2001 at San Joaquin Community Hospital in Bakersfield, California after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma on December 11, 1929. Mr. Clark came to Kern County at an early age and attended local schools. He graduated from East High School in Bakersfield in 1947 and attended Taft College for two years. He served stateside in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, he resided in Baldwin Park and then settled in Bakersfield where he raised sons Kirk & Stan and daughter Jackie. Jack began his career with Pioneer Mercantile in 1965 and continued there until his retirement in 1992. Jack reacquainted with Mary, whom he eventually married in Taft in 1972. Jack was a avid golfer and a regular at the Buena Vista Golf Course. His foursome included his father Joe Ryan (prior to Joes passing), brother-in-law Gaspar Manuz, and his longtime friend Herb Ritter. Since Joes passing, many have had the distinction of being the fourth in this group of Happy Hackers. Jack was a member of the Eagles and of the L.O.O.M. and was very active in the philanthropic activities of those organizations. Jack spent many of his retirement days working in his yard and in and around the Taft Moose Lodge. He was also a regular donor at Houchin Blood Bank. Jack enjoyed his trips to Laughlin several times a year with Mary and accompanied by friends Earl & Oleta Harris and Herb & Molly Ritter. His daughter Jackie, grandson Scott, son Stanley, sister Jeri, and parents Joe & Ruby Ryan all preceded Mr. Clark in death. Jack is survived by his loving wife Mary, sons and their wives Kirk & Debbie Clark of Penn Valley, Mike & Luz Flores of Landing, New Jersey, Adam & Patti Flores of Columbia City, Indiana, son Patrick Flores of Taft, daughters Loretta Cross and Gloria Waddell and her husband james of Taft, brother Pat Ryan of Seattle, Washington and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and acquaintances. He was Grandpa Jack to sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Jack will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Claiborn, Dr. OReilly, Dr. Alam, Dr. Kanamori and the entire staff at the CBCC, and Dr. Quy and the ICU staff at San Joaquin Community Hospital. We would also thank the 4th floor nurses at San Joaquin, Renee & Jennifer, for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Jack and his family over the weekend. Funeral services will be Today, Dec. 27th, 2:00 p.m. at the West Side Family Mortuary with burial to follow at West Side Cemetery, 26910 Cedar St., Taft.
