Colburn, 79, of Tulsa, died Thursday, April 12, 2007, following injuries incurred when he fell during a recent ice storm and subsequent brain surgery. Jay was born in Strong City, Oklahoma, and grew up in the Washita Oklahoma, area. He attended schools in Washita, Oklahoma City and California. He served with the 5th Airforce and completed his tour of duty in Japan. Jay was married and is survived by: Reverend Donna Colburn, raised 2 daughters, Christie Colburn Shelton, granddaughter, Colby Shelton; Kellie Colburn Gist and grandson, Casey Freeman. He is also survived by: sisters, Colleen Nikkel and husband, Hoseal of Oklahoma City, Cliestia Boone and husband,Wallace of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, Bette Rogers and husband, Wilford of Anadarko, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services was held Monday, April 16, 2007 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Arrow, with interment at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials can be made in J.A. Colburn's honor, to Roger Heights Christian Church Memorial Fund, 409 S. Pittsburg, Tulsa, Oklahoma or to Cal Farley's Boy's Ranch 600 W 11th St., Amarillo, Texas, 79101.
