Services were under the direction of the Steverson Funeral Home of Anadarko. Ackerman was born 23-Feb-1917 in Bristol, Conn. to Albert and Minnie (DEMMING) Ackerman. He married 16-Oct-1948 in Tucumcari, N.M. LaBerta DAY and they moved to Fort Cobb, Caddo co., Ok. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in January of 1941. He received the American Defense Ribbon, the American Theatre Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal. He was discharged 03-Dec-1945. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Burial was in the Gracemont Cemetery under the direction of the Smith Funeral Chapel. Baker was born 09-Sep-1906 in Vanoss, Ok. to Cass and Nancy (FOUNTAIN) BLACKBURN. She married 15-Nov-1922 Thomas W. BAKER in Anadarko. She was preceded in death by her husband and one daughter, Betty Jo. Survivors include five children and 18 grandchildren. ======================================================================== BATES, Paul Dickey Dec. 15, 1999 Services were held 18-Dec-1999 at the Fort Cobb Methodist Church in Fort Cobb, Caddo co., Ok. for Paul Dickey Bates who died 15-Dec-1999 in Oklahoma City, Ok. Burial was in Fort Cobb's Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of the Steverson Funeral Home of Anadarko. Bates was born 18-Oct-1914 in Blossom, Texas to John Oliver and Cora Clyde (Dickey) Bates. He grew up in Altus, Jackson co., Ok. where he attended school. He was a WWII veteran. He worked for the Oklahoma State Agriculture Department as an inspector and was assigned to Gold Kist Peanuts in Anadarko. He moved to Fort Cobb Lake in 1983 and attended Fort Cobb Methodis Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters. Burial was in the Fort Cobb Cemetery under the direction of the Pitcher-Hackney Funeral Home of Carnegie. Butler was born 30-Sep-1927 in Washita County, Ok. to Frank T. and Annie (STURM) Butler. He married Leta McKNNEY. He had lived in Carnegie the past twenty years. He was a member of the Caddo Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. Burial was in the Sickles Cemetery, located near Lookeba, Caddo co., Ok., under the direction of the Paylor Funeral Home. Barrett was born 22-Jun-1903 in Geneseo, Kansas. She was preceded in death by three sons, Dennis, Joe and Charley; and one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Ingalls. A rosary service was held 16-Dec-1999 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial was in the Memory Lane Cemetery at Anadarko. Cost was born 12-Oct-1923 at Apache, Caddo co., Ok. to Mitchell 'Mitch' Thomas and Elsie Mae (Stevens) Wilhite. She married in January of 1945 Mickey Cost. She and her husband resided in Anadarko after WWII where they remained. She worked for several years at the family business, Stevens and Roberts Real Estate and Insurance. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Survivors include one son, one grandson, one sister, three brothers and one aunt. ======================================================================== CLANCY, Lawrence Emmitt Dec. 06, 1999 Services were held 10-Dec-1999 at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Apache, Caddo co., Ok. for Lawrence Emmitt Clancy who died 06-Dec-1999 at Edmond, Ok. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery at Apache under the direction of the Crews Funeral Home of Apache. Clancy was born 20-Dec-1912 in Fayetteville, Ark. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during WWII. After his discharge from the army he moved to Apache with his parents. He then moved to Copeland, Kan., where he farmed and worked at the Copeland Co-op. After his retirement in 1979 he returned to Apache where he resided until 1997 when he moved to Edmond. He was a member of the Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Apache. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, maternal grandparents, Ellen MURROW and Grimes AKINS: paternal grandparents, Hadebalf STRONGMAN and Louise ELLIOTT. Survivors include two daughters, six granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, and one sister. ======================================================================== DECKER, Houston 'Hugh' Dec. 06, 1999 Services were held 09-Dec-1999 at the Stephens Memorial Chapel at Pryor, Mayes co., Ok. for Houston 'Hugh' Decker who died 06-Dec-1999 at Pryor. Graveside services were held 10-Dec-1999 in Binger's Murray Cemetery under the direction of Stephens Memorial Chapel. Decker was born 18-Jul-1923 in caddo county to Edward 'Ed' and Nettie (Lindsay) Decker. He married 05-Feb-1944 in Lookeba, Caddo co., Ok to Velma Ruth Duncan. He grew up and attended school in Binger. He served in the U.S. Army from which he was discharged in 1943. He was an ordained Baptist minister and served as missionary on the Navajo reservation. He was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Pryor and a member of the American Legion Post 12 and DAV post 43. He was Superintendent of the Vocational Meat Processing Plant for the State of Oklahoma. He retired from that position in 1983. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Naomi Cooper and Irene Decker; and two brothers, Stacy and Jesse Decker. Doby was born 30-Dec-1912 in Gracemont to Henry and Lela Mary (HAMIT) BLOOM. She married 20-Apr-1928 William C. DOBY in Gracemont. She lived in the Gracemont and Spring Creek area until she moved to Cement in 1950. She was a member of the Cement Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband (14-Aug-1972); her parents, two daughters, Wanda and Isabel; two brothers, Kenneth and Manley Bloom; one sister, Grace Nowlin; one grandson, Jackie and one great-grandson. Garrett was born 21-May-1902 in Stephenville, Texas to Willis Monroe and Maude (Hendrix) Higgins. She married 06-Jul-1919 in Binger, Caddo co., Ok. to Roy Garrett. She moved with her family to Chickasha when she was two years old, later moving to Dibble, McClain co., Ok. and then to Caddo County where she attended Whitebread school. She and her husband lived in Caddo county, Canadian county and Grady county. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church and of the Rebekah Lodge where she held the office of Past Noble Grand. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Bill, Charlie, and Russell Higgins; one sister, Cassie Finley; and two grandhcildren, Frank Garrett and David Houston Garrett. She was employed as an administrative assistant to LaDonna Harris, founder and president of American for Indian Opportunities in Washington, D.C. She also worked in the office of the assistant secretary for Indian Affairs in the Department of the Interior. Geigomah was preceded in death by her mother; one sister, Roberta and two nieces, Chris Dyer and Michelle Buffalohead. She married 03-Apr-1948 in San Diego, Ca. H.C. 'Rick' Harper. They came to Anadarko in 1959. She was a member of the First Christian Church and beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a member of the Anadarko Municipal Hospital Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Chad Harper and one brother, Delbert Malloy. Burial was in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko. Hooker was born 29-Aug-1915 in Josephine, Texas to Hubbard and Docia Pearl (Roach) Gooch. She married Willard Trull in 1933 and had one daughter. He preceded her in death. She married in 1943 Ray Larison and had one son. He preceded her in death. In 1962 she married A.J. Hooker, who also preceded her in death. She came to Caddo county at an early age and grew up at Fort Cobb, Caddo co., Ok. She moved to Anadarko in 1954. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star in Anadarko. Besides her three husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Norene Edgeton and four brothers, Walter, James, Alvin and John Gooch. Klinekole was born 13-Feb-1933 at Carnegie. She lived in the Apache area all her life and was a member of the Presbyterian Church and of the Apache Tribe. He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law, Ellen McAdoo. He served in the U.S. Army in 191, then joined the U.S. Navy in 1943. He served through World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Richard Leighton, Jr., three brothers and two sisters. He attended school in Anadarko and graduated from Fletcher High School in Fletcher, Comanche co., Ok. in 1968. He joined the United States Air Force from which he retired due to ill health. He was preceded in death by his father and his daughter, Tralinda Ruth. Meeks was born 03-Dec-1990 in Chickasha, Grady co., ok to Richard and Tressia (HARVEY) MEEKS. He attended school at Ninnekah Elementary School where he was in the third grade. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Kenneth Harvey and his grandmother, Wilma Meeks. Burial was in the Gracemont Cemetery under the direction of the Steverson Funeral Home of Anadarko. Savage was born 27-Jan-1914 in Scotland, Ark. to James C. and Louisa (LEFLER) HARRIS. She married 30-Sep-1930 in Gracemont Charles Samuel SAVAGE. She came to the Gracemont area when she was 13 and lived there until two years ago when she moved to Anadarko. She was preceded in death by her husband (24-Oct-1996), her parents, one brother, two sisters and two infant grandsons. Snake was born 16-May-1919 in Washita, Caddo co., Ok. to Frank and Bessie SNAKE. He married in 1947 Dorothy HILDERBRAND. He was a member of the first graduating class of Riverside Indian School. He was a Golden Gloves Boxer. He enlisted in the U.S. Army 17-Feb-1941 and was taken prisoner by the Japanese in February of 1942. He was taken to several Pacific Islands before being taken to Burma where he was forced to build the railroad across Burma jungle. For one and one-half years he was a member of the 'Lost Battalion', that got the name because the U.S. Army was unaware of their location. He was a prisoner of war for three and one-half years. He was a member of the Country Estates Baptist Church in Midwest City, Ok. He was a 32 degree Mason and belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans and the American Ex-Prisoners of War. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, one brother and three sisters. Thompson was born 14-Nov-1957 in Dallas, Texas to Junior Milton and Lela (Elliott) Parham. She grew up in Anadarko and graduated from Anadarko High School in 1976. She was a hair stylist and lived at Altus, Jackson co., Ok. She was preceded in death by her father and one nephew, Jeremy Shawn Palmer. He married 14-Jan-1966 in Cushing, Ok. Corrine L. TIGER. He was a 1959 graduate of Carnegie High School. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1961 and served in Vietnam. He obtained the rank of Lance Corporal before being discharged in 1966. He was a member of the Native American Church, Paralyzed Veterans of America and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
