The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ===================================================================== Surnames: Etter, Cannon The Cyril News December 1956 Hester Morning (Cannon) Etter Last Rites Held Wednesday For Mrs. Hettie Etter Funeral services for Mrs. Hettie Etter, 88, pioneer resident of the Cement and Anadarko communities, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, in the First Christian Church, Cement. Officiating was Rev. Paul Wallace, pastor. Burial was in the Anadarko cemetery under the direction of Dalton Funeral Home of Fletcher. Casket bearers were E.R. Kaiser, Ira Miller, Bill Hull, Leonard Wagner, John Rasberry, L.B. Marcum and Ivan Cutshall. Members of the local Rainbow assembly served as flower girls. Mrs. Etter was reported to have fractured a hip when she fell in her home Saturday. She was taken to an Anadarko hospital for emergency treatment and later to a hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas, where she died the following day at 3:30 p.m. Hester Morning Cannon was born August 17, 1868 in Joplin, Mo., and moved to Texas with her parents at an early age. She was married to J.M. Etter at Gainsville, Texas, November 28, 1888. There were 13 children born to this union. The couple moved to Oklahoma soon after their marriage, coming to this area about 1912, living north of Cement for a number of years before moving to Cement. Her husband preceded her in death in 1940. Mrs. Etter had made her home with her daughter, Avah, for about 15 years prior to her death. Survivors include two sons, Harvey Etter of Holly, Colo., and R.B. Etter of Wichita Falls, Texas; six daughters, Mrs. Clarence Dietrich of Anadarko; Mrs. H.T. Paxton of New York City, N.Y.; Mrs. Ray Vaden of Hawthorne, Calif.; Mrs. Ted Roark of Burkburnette, Texas; and Miss Avah Etter and Mrs. Bob Robinson, both of Cement.
