Elkouri died Friday, 12-Jan-2001 at his home in Benbrook. Officiating at the service was the Rev. Larry Hatfield, pastor of Grand Avenue Assembly of God Church, and the Rev. Hal Greenwood, rector of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, both of Chickasha, Grady county, Ok. Services were under the direction of Steverson Funeral Home of Anadarko. Elkouri was born 13-Sep-1947 in Anadarko to Henry and Gertrude Elkouri. He was a 1965 graduate of Corpus Christi High School where he was an outstanding athlete, receiving several awards in track. He attended Tulane University on a football scholarship and received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Texas. He taught school for several years, later owning his own retail store in Corpus Christi, from which he retired. He was a member of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church of Corpus Christi, and after his retirement, he attended Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Worth. Survivors include his parents of Benbrook; two brothers, Brian Elkouri of Austin, Texas, and David Elkouri of Benbrook; three aunts, Delores Elkouri and Edna Jabour, both of Anadarko and Louise Hock of Bolivar, Mo.; and three uncles, Lester Leith, Tom Leith and Joe Leith, all of Bolivar. --------------------------------------------------------------------
