Fowler December 31, 2000 CARNEGIE -- Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, 03-Jan- 2001 at Carnegie's First Baptist Church for Joe W. Fowler, 88, of Carnegie. Fowler died Sunday, 31-Dec-2000 at the Carnegie Hospital. Burial will be Friday, 05-Jan-2001 in Raytown, Mo., under the direction of the Pither-Hackney Funeral Home of Carnegie. Fowler was born 17-Nov-1912 in Carnegie to Gilford Poe and Mary Ann (Salmon) Fowler. He married the former Virginia L. Jones in 1936. She preceded him in death in 1973. He married Willa K. Howell 31-Mar-1975 in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from Carnegie High School, attended Cameron College in Lawton and Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and he was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. He was active in the Carnegie Building Project. Preceding him in death, besides his wife Virginia, were his parents; one brother, Glenn and three sisters, Bess Leonard, Faye Cowan and Nadine Graham. Survivors include his wife, Willa, of the home; two sons, Jon H. Fowler of Joplin, Mo., and Spencer D. Fowler of Littleton, Colo.; two daughters, Nona J. Fowler of Broken Arrow, Ok. and Elizabeth L. Dillard of Carnegie; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Zelpha Fowler of Carnegie, three nieces and three nephews. --------------------------------------------------------------------
