Gibson died 29-Nov-2000 in Lawton, Comanche county, Ok. Officiating at the service was the Rev. Shane Hall. Burial was in Apache's Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Crews Funeral Home of Apache. Gibson was born 11-May-1919 in the Alden Community to John and Nancy Gibson. He married the former Cecelia Tracy 07-Aug-1946 in Lawton. He was employed by the Civilian Conservation Corp. until his enlistment in the United States Army in 1941. He earned the Bronze Star for Valor while serving in the South Pacific and Aleutian Islands. He left the Army in 1945. He was then employed by the Public Service Co. for many years before working as a Civil Servent at Fort Sill, Ok. He retired from there in May 1979. He was a member of the Lawton Rangers and the Wichita Mountain Horse Club for many years. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Apache. Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers and five sisters. Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Candace and Steve Polardi of Austin, Tx.; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Barbara Gibson of Newcastle, Ok.; two granddaughters, Denise Pope of Newcastle, Ok. and Dena Shaw of Oklahoma City, Ok.; two sisters-in-law, Edith Benner of Lawton, Ok. and Clyda Gibson of Steilacoom, Wash.; one brother-in-law, Melvin Lee of Lawton, Ok. and several nieces and nephews.
