All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Daily Oklahoman 9/26/2003 Houk, Mary Julia Services for Mary Julia Houk, 92, of Oklahoma City, will be held Saturday, September 27, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Mrs. Houk died Tuesday, September 23, in Norman after a long struggle with Parkinson's. Born the third of four children, Sept. 14, 1911 in Gracemont, she was a lifelong resident of Oklahoma. Moving to Oklahoma City as a child, she graduated from Capitol Hill HS in 1929. She married Ray Eugene Houk for life on January 12, 1930, who preceded her in death in 1961. She was a devoted and loving mother who raised four children. Her first born, Jean Friday, two grandsons, parents, and siblings precede her in death. A valued employee of John A. Brown Co., she worked in the credit department for 25 years. She and her husband were dedicated and active members of Putnam City United Methodist Church and she continued her journey of faith at Mayfair Heights United Methodist Church after his death. Survivors include two sons Charles Houk & wife Johanna of Visalia, CA., Tom Houk & wife Margaret of Spring, Tx., daughter Pam Airington & husband Lynn of Norman, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.
