Stuart. Holdge was taken by ambulance to Anadarko Municipal Hospital where he was given emergency treatment, then transferred to Oklahoma City. Eads was also taken to Anadarko Municipal Hospital where he was admitted for observation of injuries suffered in the scuffle and later he was attacked at the hospital by Billy Don Holdge, brother of the dead Man. According to Sheriff's office investigation of the shooting was continuing. According to Stuart trouble began about 11:00 p.m. Friday when Eads arrested James Lee Holdge, son of James Holdge, "apparently for some type of traffic violation", and took him to the Fort Cobb City Hall. Then the boy's dad came in and there was some kind of a scuffle during which the pistol went off, the Sheriff said. The shot struck the older Holdge in the stomach and the bullet traveled upward into the chest area, according to Stuart. The gun was presumed to be Eads, the Sheriff said. Officers reported that Billy Bon Holdge attacked Eads as he was being wheeled out of the hospital X-ray room by Captain Jerry Gentry and Gracemont Marshall Charles Rinehart. Holdge also "took a swing at Rinhart when he stepped in to stop him", Officers said. Eads was working for City Marshall Gene Payne who had gone to help his son whose car was broken down near Guymon, according to Payne. Eads has been released from Anadarko Municipal Hospital. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Caddo County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/caddo/caddo.html
