Floyd "Bud" Doughty officiating. Holdge was born May 24, 1909 in Frederick to James "Jim" and Valentine (White) Holdge and died Monday at his home in Fort Cobb. He married the former Alene Lynn Jan. 12, 1929 in McAlester. They moved to Fort Cobb rural area after their marriage and this is where they raised their family. She preceded him in death in 1981. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Holdge; one grandson, James Lee Holdge; five brothers, Ted, and Bud and three infants one sister, Ethel Axton. He and his family moved to the eastern part of the state called 12 mile prarie as a boy. He was a peanut farmer and was called the "Peanut King of Caddo County." He was an avid racoon hunter and belonged to the Washita Valley Coon hunters Association and served as president for many years. He had won numerous trophies. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau and a former member of IOOF. Survivors include one son and daughter- in-law Billy Don and Nellie Holdge of Fort Cobb; three daughters, Maxine Reggio and husband, Michael, of Bethany, Mona Jean Berndsen and husband, Paul, of Fort Cobb and Daisy Vaughan of Purcell; one daughter-in-law, Arleta Holdge of Carnegie; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great- great- grandchildren; two sisters, Dollie Valla of Anadardo and Josie Corbin of Fresno, Calif., and a sister-in-law, Clara Holdge of Anadarko. Burial will be under the direction of Fort Cobb Funeral Home of Fort Cobb.
