SERVICES HELD TODAY FOR DROWNING VICTIM # 713 Graveside services for James Lee Holdge, 27, of Chickasha, who drowned Saturday in Fort Cobb Lake, were held at 1 p.m. today in the Fort Cobb Cemetery. Holdge died after he fell from a wet bike in about five feet of water. Witnesses said he went under the water and failed to surface. Attempts to resuce Holdge were unsuccessful. His body was recovered by state wildlife department workers with the assistance of the Oklahoma Lake Patrol and the Anadarko Fire Department Rescue Squad. Deputy Loyd Weathers said persons with Holdge said the accident occurred around 9:45 p.m. and sheriff's deputies were notified of the drowning at 11:23 p.m. Friends of the victim had stated he did not know how to swim and had earlier been wearing a life jacket. Rescue workers said he was not wearing a life jacket when the body was recovered. Holdge was born Feb. 26, 1957 in Carnegie. He grew up in Fort Cobb and graduated from Fort Cobb High School in 1975. He and the former Lisa Kolhoff were married July 9, 1981 in Wichita Falls, Texas. The couple made their home in Chickasha, where Holdge was employed by the Nicor Drilling Company. Holdge was preceded in death by his father, James William Holdge; his maternal grandfather, Theodore Martin, and his paternal grandmother, Alene Holdge. Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Amy Elisha; a son, James William; his mother, Arleta Lee Holdge of Fort Cobb; two sisters, Cynthia English of Beaver and Suzie Ewalt of Carnegie; his grandparents, Mable Martin and Howard Holdge, both of Fort Cobb, and two nieces. Dr. David Vaughan of the Anadarko First Christian Church officiated. Services were under direction of the Fort Cobb Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Billy Meehleader of Tulsa, Steve Kolhoff, Oklahoma City, and Rick Dutton, Rodney Reddick, Keith Teeter and Rick Tilley, all of Fort Cobb. Holdge was born February 26, 1957 in Carnegie, the son of James William and Arleta Lee Holdge. He grew up in Fort Cobb and graduated from Fort Cobb High School in 1975. He died August 4 as the result of a drowning accident. Holdge was united in marriage to Lisa Kolhoff July 9, 1981 in Wichita Falls, Tex. The couple made their home in Chickasha.
