::Memory Gardens Cemetery--Amarillo TX

Frank David Hammons

Frank David Hammons, 76, of Amarillo died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens Cemetery 
Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Jacklyn McNeil, a United Methodist 
minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by 
Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and 
Pierce Street.

Mr. Hammons was born in Fort Cobb, Okla., on Dec. 6, 1926, to Cathryn 
and Columbus Hammons. He was reared in Pilot Point and graduated from 
Sanger High School. Following graduation, he served in the Army from 
1945 until 1947, stationed in Frankfurt, Germany.

Mr. Hammons worked for SBC for 34 years until his retirement in 
February 1982. He married Pearl Allgire on June 4, 1948, in Amarillo. 
They reared two sons, Larry and Steve in Stinnett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, C.J. 
Hammons and W.H. Hammons.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry Hammons and wife, 
Margaret, of Amarillo and Steve Hammons and wife, Angie, of Dumas; 
four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Juanita Morris; a 
sister-in-law, Ila Burgon of Amarillo; and a brother-in-law and 
sister-in-law, Lou and Sue Unfried of Banson, Mo.

The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice, 1000 S. 
Jefferson St., Amarillo, TX 79101.
