Services are under the direction of the Steverson Funeral Home of Anadarko. Hammert was born 23-May-1903 to Paul and Christina (Graffel) Portsche in Eudora, Kans. She married 25-Dec-1929 B.W. Hammert II in Coyle, Logan co., Ok. She grew up west of Marlow, Ok. and attended Oak Lawn School. She graduated from Marlow High School, attended the University of Oklahoma at Norman, Ok., and graduated from the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Ok. She taught school at Agawam, Cement, Antondale and Tonkawa before becoming a second grade teacher at Sunset School in Anadarko, Ok. She retired in 1968 after teaching 32 years. She was a member of the Anadarko Eastern Star Chapter, the Caddo County Retired Teachers Association, the China Painters Club and a lifelong member of the Anadarko Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband who died 12-Nov-1970; a son, John Hammert who died in June 1997; her parents; three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include one son, a daughter-in-law, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two sisters. --------------------------------------------------------------------
