All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Norman IOOF Cemetery--Norman OK Norman Transcript May 10, 2007 12:00 am Edward Ivan Halsey Services for Edward Ivan Halsey, 89, of Norman will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1506 W. Imhoff in Norman. Burial will be at Norman IOOF Cemetery, under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service. Mr. Halsey died Tuesday, May 8, in Norman. He was born Nov. 25, 1917, to Jesse Claude and Mollie M. (McCaleb) Halsey in Cement. His family moved in 1922 to Anadarko where he attended school, graduating from high school in 1937. Mr. Halsey joined the United States Army in 1937, stationed with the 1st Balloon Squadron Observation Post Field at Fort Sill. In 1939 he was transferred to Lowry Air Force Base in Denver where he met Gladys Beers. They were married in 1940. They had three sons, all born at Fitssimmons Army Hospital. During World War II Mr. Halsey served for a year in England and a year in France. In 1945 he returned to Lowry Air Force Base. He returned to England, serving from 1952 to 1955. He was then transferred to Cheyenne, Wyo., where he retired in 1957. In 1958, Mr. Halsey moved to Norman. He was employed at Tinker Air Force Base for nine and a half years. Mr. Halsey is survived by his three sons, Ron Halsey and his wife Nancy of Indonesia, Bruce Halsey and his wife Jill of Florida and Jerry Halsey of Norman; five grandchildren, Amy Miller and husband Kevin, Jeremiah Halsey, Jaclyn Edwards and husband John, James Halsey and Fawn Halsey; two great-grandchildren, Nate Miller and Emily Edwards; and extended family and friends.
