MINOR AND MECHANIC Neosho, MO. August 24, 1917 GRACE JUANITA JAY Little Grace Juanita Jay the twin daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Oscar JAY, died Aug. 17, 1917 at the tender age of 1 year and 6 months. She had been sick for several weeks with summer complaint, although she fought a hard fight for her life and for two days struggled between life and death, but her little constitution could not hold out and at 1:30 Friday night she obeyed the Saviors calling for her little spirit, left its earthly home and went to dwell with God: Everything that loving hands could do was done, but God knows best and he saw fit to call the little darling to be his angel. Although we miss her sweet presence and her baby voice: But we know it is little Juanita's eternal gain. We know she has gained a home in heaven and has gone to be an angel where the children never suffer, but are happier than we know, and may the loved ones who are left to be comforted by the thought that they have the blessed assurance in God's word: That if they live a true consecrated life they will meet little Juanita in the sweet beyond, where there are no more good bye's. How true it is all must die: We know not but we will all be called before the Judgement hour of God, to give an answer of our lives here on earth. But we know baby has gone there unstained from any crime, no sin to answer for, but with a purer little sould God had planted in our midst to dwell so short a time. She was only budded on hearth to bloom in Heaven. There in that bright Celestial home: Baby hands are beckening come: Father, Mother and little sister, Minnie Oneida: Farewell Dear little babe until we meet in that bright home and all will be united around the throne of God. May God help us to realize that death is only a dream, and that if we live faithful we will soon awaken in that bright eternal life. There to live for evermore. Her funeral was held at the New Salem Cemetery. Conducted by Elder Adams, and her little body laid peacefully to rest. Sleep on sweet babe the sleep of ease we know thou are at rest where joy supreme shall never cease. We know that God knew best. E. L..W. ________________________________________________ Additional information by submitter: Although Juanita was not born in Caddo Co. she lived most of her short life there, leaving just a few days prior to her death. She is the dau. of Thomas Oscar & Minnie Isabella Martin JAY. b. 24 Mar. 1916 Newton Co. MO. Her name was Gracie instead of Grace. Her twin sister was Minnie Oneida JAY SKELTON who lived until Aug. 19, 1997 and dieing in Madera Co. CA. Juanita is the granddaughter of Thomas JAY. seen in his obituary here.
