Rev. Eugene Cooprider, former Carnegie and Alfalfa pastor, officiated. Jones died Wednesday, September 29, in a Lawton hospital. Burial was in Alfalfa Cemetery under direction of Pitcher Funeral Home. Born October 26, 1897, Jones came to the Oklahoma Territory with his family in a covered wagon, first settling north of Mountain View in 1901. In 1904, the family moved to a farm north of Carnegie where he attended school. In 1924, he married Pearl Pickrell at Tipton. A 1927 graduate of Southwestern State College at Weatherford, he taught in Wynona, Wilson and several other school systems before moving back to the homestead north of Carnegie in 1930. He was residing at the farm at the time of his death. Survivors include his widow, of the home; one son, Donald N. Jones, Saginaw, Texas; four daughters, Lo Leta King, Carnegie, Karen Monroe of Mountain View, Treva Baker, St. Michaels, Ariz., and Gayle Harris, Ganado, Ariz.; one sister, Ethel Mae Smith, Okmulgee; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Caddo County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/caddo/caddo.html
