Edward Lee Roy Keeton was born March 20, 1927, in Anadarko, Oklahoma. He died Sunday July 17, 2005, in Chickasha. Interment will be in the Ninnekah Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home. ========== The Chickasha Express-Star Tuesday, 19 July 2005 EDWARD LEE ROY KEETON Funeral services for Edward Lee Roy Keeton, 78, of Ninnekah, will be held Wednesday July 20, 2005, at 10:30 a.m., in the Ninnekah Baptist Church with Joe Day officiating. Edward Lee Roy Keeton was born March 20, 1927, in Anadarko, Oklahoma the son of Elva and Opal Heavin Keeton. He died Sunday July 17, 2005, in Chickasha. Edd grew up in Cement, Oklahoma, where he was an active member of the local FFA chapter, serving as Cement FFA reporter and participated in basketball and baseball. As a freshman, Edd won first place at the Oklahoma City stock show and sold his champion Berkshire barrow pig to Governor and Mrs. Bob Kerr for 31 cents per pound. He also spent the night in the Governor’s Mansion, with Governor and Mrs. Kerr. Edd joined the U.S. Navy on May 1, 1945, at the age of 17. He was a pharmacist mate third class. He received an honorable discharge on May 15, 1946. In 1957 Edd and his family moved to Ninnekah where he has been a long-time civic leader in the community. He served on the school board for several years, including the time that the new Ninnekah High School and Physical Education building were built. He served as the first mayor of Ninnekah and was on the city council from 1971 to 1981. He was active in the local FFA and 4-H chapters, and was always willing to assist the youth in the community. Edd worked for Little Nick Oil Company, NFC and MGF where he served as production superintendent until his retirement. He was currently co-owner, with Joe Young, of Mid-Continent Petroleum Mangement Company and co-owner of Sand Point Production, with Leslie Powell. Edd was a lifelong Baptist and was saved in 1952 at the Bible Baptist Church. He attended the Ninnekah Baptist Church. Edd was preceded in death by both parents, three brothers, wife, Betty, one daughter, Melissa Jean, and 2 grandsons. He is survived by his wife Wanda, of the home; two sons and daughters-in- law: Donald and Ruth Brittain, of Fletcher, and Billy and Karan Keeton, of Ninnekah; one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Tom Brack, of Duncan; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Lola and Cecil Griffin, of Ninnekah, Lois and Jim Morris, of Chickasha, and Betty Heald, of Chickasha; Grandchildren: Jeremy, Jessica, Julie, and Jacob Brittian, Chad and Chris Brack, and Christi and Tony Keeton; three step children: Randy, Dan and Lee Ann Boevers; and three great grandchildren.
