(Trogden) Kimberling, 91, of Norman was born Dec. 29, 1908 near Anadarko and died Tuesday, May 23, 2000. She married Amos Kimberling. He preceded her death in 1995. She began teaching at Beuna Vista, a rural one-room school, after graduation from Anadarko High School. She met her husband-to-be while attending Central State Teachers College in Edmond. He was also an educator. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before his death. They moved to Ryan after graduation from college. She was the first in her family to achieve a college degree. She taught school at Union Valley and coached the softball team to the county championship. Other teaching assignments were at Mountain Home and Irving. She served as County Superintendent of Schools for Jefferson County after completing a master's degree from the University of Oklahoma in Norman. She taught at Rancho Village Elementary school in Oklahoma City and then served for 17 years at Andrew Jackson Elementary in Norman. She retired from the Norman Public Schools in 1973. She had served as an educator for 38 years at her retirement. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Iota and Delta Kappa Gamma, serving as president of both organizations. She was a member of the First Chistian Church, Clevland County Retired Teachers, Oklahoma Education Association and the National Association of Retired Teachers. She was a County Chairperson of the State Democratic Committee, County Chaiperson of the American Cancer Society, a 4-H Club sponsor and a 20-year cancer survivor. Burial will be in Norman's Sunset Memorial Park under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.
