The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ===================================================================== Surnames: LEWIS, ROAN, ROSS Funeral Services for Mrs Freida Roan Lewis, 84 of Pampa, Tex., were held Dec. 15, 1998 at Carmichael Whatley Colonial Chapel, Pampa, with Jerry McCorkle, minister of Murray Hill Church of Christ, Lindsay, Okla., officiating. Burial was at Pampa. Mrs. Lewis was born at For Towson, the daughter of Don and Lucille Roan. The family lived in the Oney and Highland communitites for serveral years. Freida graduated from Oney High School in 1932. She later graduated from Southwestern State College, Weatherford, OK. She taught school at Star and other area rural schools, then other schools in Oklahoma and Texas. In 1975, she retired after 36 years of teaching. She married Truett Ross in 1938. He died in 1953 from an accident. She married Dale Lewis in 1975. She had lived at Papmpa since 1951. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Leroy Roan. Survivors include her husband, Dale; a daughter, Judy Beth Ross of Amarillo, Tex.; a son, Don Ross of Portland, Ore.; and a brother, O.J. Roan of Chickahsa. TAKEN FROM The Fort Cobb News
