Lane, Winnie Mae Phelps Winnie Mae Phelps Lane was born in Hinton, Oklahoma on June 19, 1919, to Anna Pearl Howell and William Thomas Phelps, and died in Oklahoma City on March 31, 2004. She was raised in Oklahoma City with her two brothers and five sisters, married Norman Lane, and had one daughter, one granddaughter, and two great grandsons. She was an extremely independent woman and never remarried after her divorce in 1949. Winnie worked in shipyards in California during World War II, and later worked in assembly, electronics, and as a caregiver for senior adults until her retirement in 1986. Winnie lived in southern California from 1958 to 1986 and retired in Oklahoma City. She had a zest for life which was evident in her hearty laughter, joyful singing, and her love of adventure and travel. She truly never met a stranger and had a sense of humor that endeared her to all. Winnie is survived by her daughter Carol Patterson, granddaughter Tracey Strader Faiazi and her husband Farahshad, and great grandsons Salar and Darya Faiazi, and many loving nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service in celebration of Winnie's life will be held on Sunday, April 4, 2004 at the Vondel L. Smith & Son North Colonial Chapel, 13125 N.
