Landes was born May 20, 1913 in Parkersburg, W.V., To William and Emma Elizabeth (McDonal) Graham and died Friday, March 31, 2000 in Anadarko following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, LaRue Morris, and three brothers, Wren Graham, Bill Graham and Barney Graham. She and her family moved to Tulsa when she was a young girl. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School. She came to Anadarko in 1937 and her first job here was with the Youngheim Department Store. She married G.R. "Zip" Landes Nov. 4, 1940 at the Methodist Church parsonage. She worked at Lacey-Pioneer Abstract for a while before going to work as a deputy in the Caddo County Treasurer's Office. She retired from there to help "Zip" as bookkeeper for his Pizza Hut franchise. She loved to travel, play bridge and swim. She taught all of her children to swim. She was a talented seamstress and made clothes for her girls, making her own patterns from designs the girls found in magazines. She was a member of the Gladiolus Unit of the Anadarko Flower Club, the Sorosis Club and belonged to the First United Methodist Church of Anadarko. Burial was in Anadarko's Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of Steverson Funeral Home of Anadarko.
