"Bud" McCalla Dies in Hospital; Was Pioneer Here D.F. "Bud" McCalla, 75, died at 4:45 a.m. Saturday in the Carnegie hospital after suffering a stroke at his home, 316 E 4, four days previously. Services were at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Methodist church with Brodace Elkins, minister, and Harry O. Hubbard, Christian church minister, officiating. The Pitcher funeral home had charge of arrangements and burial was in the Carnegie cemetery. Dallas Franklin McCalla was born Jan. 2, 1877, at Springville, Ala. When he was 6 years of age his parents moved to Dallas, Texas. He came to Oklahoma in 1901 and located on a farm 10 miles northwest of Carnegie. He was married to Elsie Myrtle Jones June 20, 1905 at Plano, north of Mountain View. In 1948 Mr. McCalla retired and moved to Carnegie where he has since made his home. He was converted and united with the Methodist church at Alfalfa in 1913, transferring his membership to Carnegie in 1948. Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Elsie McCalla, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Velma Reid, of Weatherford; four sons, Truman, Encino, Calif.; Rudell, Oklahoma City; Col. J. Herman, Tokyo, Japan; and Charles F., Tulsa; a brother, T.R. McCalla, Chickasha, and a sister, Mrs. Tellie Markwell, Oklahoma City, and six grandchildren. All of the immediate family were here for the funeral except Col. J. Herman McCalla who could not come. Among other relavives and close friends here for the funeral were the T.R. McCalla family, Mrs. Hazel Cowan and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Baker, Chickasha; R.L. Lawhon, Shawnee; Mr. and Mrs. Davis Lawhon, Lawton; Mrs. Beulah McCalla, Charles Calkins, the Ivan and Howard Holmes families and Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Whisler, Edmond; Mr. and Mrs. F.B. Jones, Robert Matthews, G.C. Archer, Gentry Faulkner and Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Winter, Oklahoma City; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Short, Weatherford; Mrs. Kate McCalla and Pate, Lancaster, Texas; Mrs. Ethel Smith, Okmulgee; Sterling Jones, Sulphur; Dr. Lex Jones, Comanche; Mr. and Mrs. Otis Truitt, Amber; and Hal Hackleman, Stillwater.
