Miller passed from this life on November 9, 2005 at the age of 89. Leon and his family lived in the Alden area until he was 6 years old. They then moved near Harmon, Oklahoma where Leon began his grade school years. In 1922 the family moved to Vici and Leon attended the Vici High School graduating with the class of 1935. For a short period of time he worked along side his father operating a service station. From 1939 to 1940 Leon and his brother Floyd operated a service station together. On February 13, 1941 Leon entered the U.S. Army serving his country in WW II. He was honorably discharged on October 16, 1945. Leon was united in marriage to Shirley Espy. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of two daughters, Elizabeth Ann and Nancy Leann. In December, 1950 Leon went to work for the U.S. Postal service as a rural mail carrier. Leon was a member of the First Baptiat Church, and was baptized in the faith on March 3, 1953. He was a member of the American Legion and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was past Master of Masonic Lodge #465 in Vici, Oklahoma. When not working Leon enjoyed spenidng time with kids, grandkids, family, friends and also enjoyed hunting. Leon and Shirley were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in December of 1995. Leon was preceded in death by his beloved wife Shirley;' his parents, W.A. and Ruby Miller, by five brothers, Doyle, Vernon, Demer, Herman, and Floyd; and by his grandson Michael. Those left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Elizabeth Blackwsell and husband Jack of Enid, Oklahoma, and Nancy Lucas and husband of Durham, Oklahoma; by his brother, Kenneth Miller of Vici, Oklahoma; by grandchildren, Mark Bowman and wife Tina of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Katrina LynWhite and husband Joe of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Dusty Lucas of Elk City, Oklahoma, Andy Lucas of Durham, Oklahoma; by great frandchildren, Tyler Bowman and Michael Bowman, Jr. of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Gina White of Guthrie; and by several nieces, nephews and many friends. Services were held Friday, November 11, 2005 in the First Baptist Church, Vici, Oklahoma with interment following in Sunnyside Cemetery. Services arranged by Shaw Funeral Home, Vici, Oklahoma.
