He had typhoid fever. Mrs. Inman of Graham, MO., mother of Mrs. Nowland; Mrs. Homer Coggins, of Summerfield, Kan., and E.S. Nowland of Axtell, Kan, sister and brother of Mr. Nowland , came for the funeral, which was held at the house Tuesday. Mr. Nowland is very sick with the same fever. Dr. Andersonwas at his bedside during the services. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Ira L. Crabtree, assisted by Rev. Wilkins, and a song was sung by Mrs. Wilkins. Death is always sad, but when the only child is taken it seems very sad, indeed. The mother's arms are empty, and no more questions to be answered, no childish praddle, the house is still. The playthings are all picked up and put away. But we should feel that the Lord knows best. The Lord gave and the Lord takethaway. Blessed be the name of the Lord! Dear little sainted philgrim . A memory of the past We, too, shalltake this journey and be with you at last: Our precious child has wandered into the land of rest, and though our hearts are empty, We know God's will was best. __ Esther Peterson Lindsborg, Kan -------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Caddo County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/caddo/caddo.html
